A Look Back at 2018 for Kilcullen Photography Club

This is just a little look back on what we did in 2018. It was a good year for the club, new members joined and we had some lovely outings to places like Russborough House, June Blake's Garden and Burtown House.
We had an exhibition of our work in March hosted by An Tearmann in Kilcullen. It was a great opportunity to show off all the different styles and perspectives of our members.
We had our first official AGM which was well attended and many of us benefited from the workshops run by Conor Williams throughout the year, which were really enjoyable as well as informative.
We produced our first calendar which was photos based around Kilcullen and it sold fantastically well with the help of Woodbine books and An Tearmann. Thanks to Niamh also for selling at her stall (http://www.curiousquirkes.com/) at the Kilcullen Christmas Market.

I thought it would be nice for members to pick one favourite photo of the year so here is a selection of member photos and why they picked them.

This beautiful shot of a bee by Dan Kenny, picked because he felt it was one of the few photos he has taken that he truly liked.. He said that everything just fell into place for the shot.

Next up is my own shot - I chose this one because Autumn has always been my favourite time of year and I think this captures the wonderful colours of the season.

This little guy was taken by Carmel O'Connor on St. Stephen's Day.  He looked so christmassy, she thought Santa must have left him behind :)

Next up is this vibrant shot by Niamh O'Connor.  It was taken in Canada at a train wreck in a forest. All the carriages were graffitied with amazing art and there was a great juxtaposition of nature and man made elements.

Last but not least is this quirky unexpected capture by Jackie Glynn. It was on the way out of Punchestown and it almost looks as if the gentleman is reading a story to his canine friend!

That's all for now and hopefully 2019 will bring lots more interesting things for our club!
We would like to wish you all the best for the upcoming year,
Cliona

Winter to Spring and an AGM

We have slowly been moving into brighter days and it was nice to have our slightly delayed AGM post Christmas, rather than before it. Dave, ...
